Steve Harper


Steve has built a strong reputation in the industry through a number of senior roles including Head of Bord na Móna UK, Managing Director at Vital Earth and Sales Director at both William Sinclair Horticulture and Gardman. He also leads the industry-wide Growing Media Association as their first Independent Chairman. Steve brings a raft of experience through a Sales and Marketing background, understanding not just how to write a sales strategy but successfully deliver it.

More recently Steve has focused on wider company strategy and business turnaround. Understanding where the links between sales, supply chain and operations don’t join, and ensuring they come together to deliver a successful and profitable outcome.

Outside of work Steve’s passion for gardening continues, spending many hours in his own garden. He also enjoys auto-sport, skiing and is rarely seen without a gadget of some description in his hand.


Alicia Harper


Alicia is an experienced Supply Chain and Operations Director who is highly focused and relentlessly driven.

Utilising her solid back-office experience across customer services, planning, supply chain, project management and manufacturing, Alicia provides a range of support services to companies in the horticultural sector. Alicia has a strong business ethos of on time, at the right price, to the right quality, every time.

At play Alicia likes to socialise with family and friends.  She enjoys cooking and has recently discovered she is not bad at baking.

It’s not unknown for Alicia to be working out to the latest fitness DVD or running to the latest dance tracks on her treadmill.


Richard Gianfrancesco


Richards roots are in research and technical development, using data to help make commercial decisions.

With a Ph.D. in plant and soil science, Richard has worked in and around the British horticulture industry for over 15 years. Richard has held a number of high-level positions at Which?, including Head of Research for Which? Gardening, as well as Head of Social Research, Science and Statistics. Richard has plenty of experience in industry – having worked for Associated British Foods, and latterly as Head of Technical for William Sinclair Horticulture.

Richard often delves into detail for clients. Understanding the market, the customer and the competition. He regularly supports companies develop their marketing strategy through data and insight, as well as support product innovation and routes to market.

In his spare time, Richard can be found in his garden, at the apiary, and cycling the roads of Hertfordshire. He’s also written an acclaimed gardening book in his spare time.
